I live in wales but seem to have brought this with some roses from Somerset any ideas what it is?

The leaves look a lot like creeping buttercup (Ranunculus repens).

I agree Pull it out and keep pulling it out! It's a very invasive groundcover-type weed. Your roses will have a lot of trouble getting going if you leave that stuff growing around them.

I agree, it sure looks a variety of Ranunculus. We have Creeping Buttercup (Ranunculus repens) here in Florida and according to this page, it is found in New South Wales: https://keyserver.lucidcentral...

I googled and found this page that shows a few different Ranunculus listed as weeds of new South Wales. My eyes aren't the greatest and the print is quite small but I think the ones listed are R. arvensis, R. muricatus, R. sceleratus.
