These are disturbing and I have never seen them before. The best explanation I can give is that it looks like my dogs umm tallywhacker coming out of the ground. What in the world are these? Good or bad? Oh and they are growing in a shady area underneath the rudebekia. Thank you.

Stinkhorn is the name I know it by. Other names are not so nice. Whistling

Mutinus elegans...common name Elegant stinkhorn etc.

Celia....thank you. I can only imagine...i don't even like looking at it. Glare meanwhile I'll read up on it and find out more. I don't dare touch it yet b/c it's probably called STINKhorn for a reason!?
