I received an email last week from Nola saying that they were at peak bloom. Since they are only 15 minutes away we took a trip today to see what was blooming. If you have never been there, the view is pretty spectacular. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Things are very similar to last year when the region 14 spring regional was held there. But even with all the rain this year, Nola and Gary are on top of the weeds. There were still some of the newer iris left from the regional. Barbaro ![]() La Troienne ![]() Core Values ![]() Unbridled Beauty ![]() Helen's Melody ![]() Cozy Cotton ![]() Waves of Amber ![]() Double Chocolate ![]() Caramel 'N Chocolate ![]() Lemon Jade ![]() Power Lines ![]() Downtown Brown ![]() Skirting the Issue ![]() One Step Beyond ![]() Looking Smart ![]() A few garden shots. Nola's is still a working ranch but it has a rural charm that contrasts with Silicon Valley below. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Without all the hassles of the regional to worry about, they were able to get the lower garden weeded and whipped into good shape. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More of the named iris tomorrow (I hope). I love that cat pic too. It looks so intent on something just out of our sight. Looks like a lovely place to spend the day. Power lines has interesting coloration. "The chimera is a one time happenstance event where the plant has a senior moment and forgets what it is doing." - Paul Black |

Thanks Carl! Although they're fairly close, I have not been yet.. I heard they really upped their game last year for the regionals.. I didn't know they were also a ranch.. Do they have cattle? The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

They have horses. Nola was getting ready to feed them as we were leaving. Also chickens, turkeys and assorted other creatures. Lots of cats. Carl |
