Over the past couple days we have had an unusually high number of spammers sign up, log in and then post some junk to our forums. This is stuff that is non-sense off topic posts full of words about shoes or prescription drugs or other spammy content.

When you see this, PLEASE click on the report button associated with the post. Once enough people click on the report button the system will automatically delete the spam.

Clicking on the report button is the best way to keep the forums clean for our fellow members. Thank you to all who have been reporting the spam they see by clicking on that button!

For those who don't know: the report button is the red exclamation mark icon that is directly to the right of the thumbs-up icon.

How about spam blogs?
Example: https://garden.org/blogs/view/...
To me it looks like they just threw in some links and photos to make it look like something to do with gardening. Too long to read the entire thing though, I do find some like this.

@Seedfork, Wow ... 2 pages of ridiculousness! @Dave will be able to delete that since there don't appear to be report buttons for blogs.

Maybe the blogs need report buttons. I have seen several others that are similar, but not as long.

Maybe you can give Dave links to those as well so they can be removed.

Definitely report blog spam, as well. There is not currently a button for blogs but I'll try to add that. Until then, report it here in Site Talk.

That person has been around a long time. I've wondered if it would be considered a legit blog, or spam. I'm glad you called attention to it.

I noticed today a member joined in 2005? Maybe that is when they joined the Nation Gardening Association?

I just found a spam post in the Daylily of the Day Fellow thread and remembered this thread in Site Talk to report which I did. My question is which is better, for me to report the post or as the moderator of the Daylily forum should I delete it instead, or maybe after reporting it delete it so you can delete the spammer member. What is the new way you want moderators to handle these posts/threads? (We used to delete and report spammers in our forums to you in the moderators forum)

It's probably better to report it using the report button, rather than simply delete it.

(You can delete it, but then only the post gets deleted but the spammer's account remains active. Using the report icon means that lots of things happen internally to the system. When enough people report the post, the member is automatically removed from that forum.

Also, I can review reports and if it's a run-of-the-mill spammer, I can take immediate action by banning and cleaning up all their posts with one click of a button.
