Hi, new to this forum but looking for a little help identifying these plants. We seem to be inundated with them since we planted some woodland seed mix. The problem is it doesn't seem to match any of the plants included in the mix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Harry8052, Welcome!

Looks like a variety of Sorghum to me. I sometimes find it popping up beneath the bird feeders because it's one of the seeds in wild birdseed mixes. We have lots of Sorgum species listed in our database with photos for comparison: https://garden.org/plants/sear...

I should have mentioned, that is just a guess on my part ... my eyesight isn't the greatest. Hopefully others will be along with suggestions soon.

Hmmm... Did your seed mix have Penstemon in it?

Could it be Clarkia or Fire weed? A location would help.

Morning folks, I'm in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After doing a little research I thought it might be Fireweed too. Might have to wait and see what the flowers are to fully ID it.
Thanks for all the replies so far though.

It reminds me so much of Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (but your plants have opposite leaves). If you find out what it is, please let us know!
