Hi all,

first post from novice gardener. I bought some Aubergine Orlando seeds a while ago and have only just got round to planting them recently, but I'm not sure if they are actually aubergine, so I was wondering if you kind people could help.

Looking online the seeds and leaves seem completely different and now it has a couple of buds on.

Thanks for any help,
Toby

Welcome!

That is not an eggplant but you had figured that out. Smiling Eggplant seeds look like tomato seeds. Where did you get the seed from?

Hi Daisyl,

I can't remember where I got them from as it was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure it was somewhere reputable.

They might be Bachelor Buttons or a close relative.

I think the leaves are a bit slim to be a cornflower but googling cornflower seeds comes up with identical looking seeds so I guess that's what it is.

Thanks so much Daisyl for your help. I shall scatter in the garden so they will be of aesthetic use rather than edible.

Welcome! , Toby!

I agree, the seeds and plants look like some species of Centaurea. Also, the seed pack looks a lot like some that I've gotten from Thompson & Morgan in the past. I've also gotten mislabeled seeds from them. You may try contacting them, too. Smiling

I agree. The seeds look similar to Centaurea cyanus Cornflower aka Bachelor Buttons (not the same as Cornflower which is Cichorium intybus).
