Hi Dave, I have emails in my inbox. I check them and try to move them to an appropriate place like "Friends" or "purchases" and after I click for the move, the emails stay in the inbox. They don't move. I am on Windows 10 with Firefox.

I just tested this and it worked as expected.

Does it give you any message after you click to move them, giving some indication that the move was successful?

I have never used that option, but mine also worked.

I Created a new folder , selected the mail, scrolled down and moved it into the new folder, went back to inbox and it was gone.

It;s still not working for me. I check the box, and find the folder I want and click it. No message and no movement. It used to work because I've done it many times.

You check the box for the mail, then scroll to the bottom, and select the folder from the list. Then you click the button that says "Move these mails"?

The old stand by IT line...... Have you tried to re-boot? A lot of hanging around memory can be removed with a simple re-boot (sometimes).
