Hi, I got a small vase of flowers as a gift and it came from a flower shop. One of the types of flowers in it is something I can't figure out. They are small purple flowers with greenish centers and long stamens. Their stems are covered in small flat pea-sized leaves. The flowers, in my opinion smell terrible - like really sweet rotting meat. Has anyone ever heard of such a flower?? Thanks so much!

Welcome!

I stumbled upon this picture just now when looking for something else. Looks rather similar to your plant:

@sooby has it; yes. I used the name provided and did a search on Wikimedia Commons and found this:

One common name is 'Pink Tea Tree'

The NGA database has an entry for the plant but no data and as yet, no photos.

I agree with Leptospermum. Not sure about L. squarrosum, but it's a possibility.

Maybe you saw this article, greene? It is about Leptospermum rotundifolium being used in floristry so looks like a good possibility.

I wondered about the location too but since it came from a flower shop in a bouquet the origin of the plant could be anywhere these days. I noticed emeraldeyes spelled center rather than centre so I guessed USA Whistling
