I thought it was Midnight Oil, but the beard color is wrong. If someone guesses a name I may recognize it because it is something I no doubt ordered.
MO has a dark purple beard, but this one is a brown color.

Could it be Midnight Embers? There isn't a picture in our database but here is the iris wiki link. Seems to match by description. Hope this helps!

well that name doesn't ring a bell, unless I was accidentally sent the wrong thing. It does look close to it.

It is definitely not Midnight Oil because yours is a black purple whereas Midnight Oil is a black red. Meaning in full sun MO has a deep dark cherry color to it.

I wish there were more pictures of Midnight Embers because it isn't clear if there is enough of a white spray to match the NoID. Otherwise it is a good color and form match.

Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Crimson Lights')

Mystery Solved! I ran across an old order form and figured it out by that. I don't even remember ordering it! Shrug! But it's on there plain as day...
Thank You!

I need help! This stalk is the tallest, has four buds, and is at the most perfect stage of bloom for showing...tomorrow. I just rescued it from the rain, it's sitting in a bucket of water in the house . But its tag is missing, and I'm not having any luck i.d.ing it.
Does anyone recognize it? (prize of an acorn..or two!!) Blinking

I know, it looks a lot like my avatar, Jamaica Me Crazy. But that's in another bed,(I think) and the edge is differently colored and the beard is more orange on the noid.
I'm regretting that I didn't replace all the tags. Those little white plastic ones are worthless.

Is it Dazzle?

The color is lovely on Crimson Lights. I think it is a prettier iris than Midnight Oil.

Dazzle is really nice too!
