I have two questions:

1) Is this (1st and 2nd week of May) a good time to directly sow annual flower seeds outside in Parker, CO (zone 5)?

2) What is the best method to sow small seeds (say Dianthus) for maximum yield?

Thanks in advance for responses.

It all depends on what you want to seed.
Most annuals will do well sown now.

However some like poppies do better if they experience some cold or cooler weather conditions first.

Mixing fine sand or vermiculite with the seeds----makes it easier to spread them out.
