I know this may be a hard question to answer, but hopefully someone can help me. I live in SW Virginia and every spring I smell this wonderful sweet smell in the evening in certain areas and even a few spots on the interstate when coming home. I have stopped my car and looked and see nothing blooming . Any idea what it could be? It's not honeysuckle. It's such a wonderful smell! I smell it all the way into Oct.

Hi Rhiannon68, Welcome!

Without a photo it might be difficult to narrow down an exact ID but hopefully members who live in your part of the country will have suggestions on what plants you might be smelling. One plant that comes to mind is Daphne: which has extremely fragrant flowers.

I am quite sure this flower isn't it, but we have a tiny white flower that blooms in the roadside ditches called hedge parsley that smells very sweet at dawn and dusk...?
