Hello,

So I was painting a structure (let's call it a covered stairway). I was using latex stain. I lost my balance and tipped the nearly-full can completely upside down on a small rose, irises, and lilies. I've spent the last half hour running water thru the dirt and spraying as much as I can off of the leaves. The ground was already quite wet. It rained just last night. I hope that will help.

Just wondering if anyone else has had an experience like this & maybe what to expect from the plants.

What a mess!

Is it water based? I don't think it will do a lot of damage if you can dilute it enough. I'm just guessing so don't take my word for it but I would get as much out of there as you can.

Good luck!

Latex paint is water based. As long as there are green leaves, so your plants can continue to photosynthesize, they will be fine.

You did the right thing. The paint seems to be mostly off the plants and what's on the ground has been diluted.

When my daughter's house was painted a couple years ago, her cactus plants were spray painted blue on one side. They were colorful until the paint wore off but otherwise fine.

Thank you both! I diluted it a lot. Now that I'm not so irritated with myself, I'm feeling optimistic.

Better. Just one little puddle of white. When they bloom, I'll post a photo. Says Ms. Optimist. Smiling
