A couple of clumps of iris appeared along the edge of my back lane. It is somewhat similar in leave, clumping habit and flower to a Douglas iris. The color is very pale yellow edged in a hard to describe color like a mauve tan. Their are vein-like markings on the lower hanging petal. Help. I have a photo of it I could send. I'm in coastal Northern California Marin county. Thanks.

Hope you didn't step in that poison oak...

There are a couple that look like that. Iris fernaldii and Iris macrosiphon. Here is a good site I found to help identify what I have in the Santa Cruz mountains (fernaldii). The two cross breed as well..

Welcome! to the iris forum!

Another possibility is Iris foetidissima 'Citrina'.
