Plant ID forum: whats this?

this close to the ground greenery is growing all around the yard of our new house in middle Maine, US. can anyone identify it? it is not a vine. I dug up one particular shoot and found it was connected to another, and they grew together out of a small twisted ball of plant matter with two sort of "wings".

Aegopodium podagraria/Goutweed perhaps.

It does look like it might be Goutweed (Aegopodium podagraria) There is also a variegated leaf variety.

Apparentl it's considered invasive in Maine:
