So ... here goes. You have been exiled to a deserted, not "desert," island. There is no dessert on this island, but the island is well suited to the cultivation of iris (perhaps better than dessert). You get to choose three and only three iris to take with you into exile. You will never be able to hybridize these iris. What you take ... well ... which three Iris do you want to see every year for the rest of your life?

Rolling on the floor laughing Tom,

It is very hard to limit my selection to just three, but here goes:
1. My favourite black - Devil May Care
2. My favourite broken colour - Squid Squirt
3. My favourite blue - Neon Blue

What about bee pods? Could we keep the seedlings from the pods? After all the island is well suited for iris growth..... Whistling

Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Would this be a big island or would the 3 irises (with or without bee pods etc. Whistling ) have to live next to each other - i.e. match? Big Grin

A goodly chunk of mine are new/newish/on order and haven't yet bloomed, so the list may change. I suspect, though, from the photographs I have seen that my #1 would/will be Burseen's Judy Schneider. She put more photographs on her site from this year's blooms. Lovey dubby

1. https://theshadyspotiris.com/c...

2. A nice blue. Absolute Treasure, maybe.

3. Um, I can't pick a last one, there are just too many pretties...sigh... Smiling
It’s okay to not know all the answers.

Most of mine are new too, and many of those did not bloom.

At a guess...

1. Glacier Point
2. Hidden Gem, maybe
3. ??? a blue most likely
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

Beautiful Iris!
Will have to think about the other two.

It may be suited for growing irises, but I would still more information about the islands climate and soil conditions.

Well, if all of us were on the same island we might have 3,000 plus irises on that island. Wishful thinking?
Edit to add: #2 Would have to be:

#3 would have to be this one:

But, if I could have one more it would be a darker blue one.

So, it comes down to several choices: Do you take three that bloom at different times so you prolong the iris season? Three that bloom at the same time to give you a tiny bouquet every year? Different types - but then you would only have one of each form.....?

UndertheSun,

The island is suited to any iris you want to grow. It even has specific micro-climates. You can grow Pacific Iris on one side of the island and bearded iris on another portion of the island. There is a wetlands for growing ensatas. The only restriction is that you can only take three iris with you. Remember, you have been banished. Under the circumstances, I think your banishers are being pretty lenient to let you take three iris. 😏

Of course, if you sew some seeds into the lining of your clothing and put a few seeds in places probably best not discussed on a public forum, you will probably get away it. Your banishers are only looking for rhizomes. They also are not real bright. None will ever become an astrophysicist.
