I just took this picture (may 10th) at a home in Fort Erie, Ontario. I have no idea what it is. Hoping someone could help me.

Did you get pictures of the leaves/plant? My 1st thought was magnolia but I'm not sure.

Can you give us a description of the entire plant? I'm wondering if that is just a branch off the plant, or is that what was growing out of the ground? If your photo is showing basically the entire plant, it reminds me of a Coralroot plant; check this link to compare to the photos there.
