Let me introduce a seedling who has the garden name Litter:

Some things just happen that way. When I planted every daylily seed I got and they unexpectedly nearly all germinated, I was overrun with seedlings. I still am. Since I use containers, I've scrambled and hoarded lots of things to use to give those seedlings more room than a 6" pot to share with their siblings. And that's how Litter and its sibling Litter Mate, which has a scape that will bloom later, came to get their garden names. It comes from the container - sorry you have to enlarge it to see:

The container works really well for the purpose. Just pry off the lid and shove it back in the bucket from corner to corner after drilling some holes and there's a nice double planting space - and the roots even stay separated. I figure by the time the sun makes them brittle and they disintegrate the seedlings will have had a chance to show whether they deserve an upgrade or the discard pile. So I've been saving them and will put them all into use. But the plants are certain to get their garden names which the containers suggest. Those names will follow them as long they stay on the premises. There is definitely a Scratch and Sniff in the future. nodding
