My kids asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day. I know we all can't be together, that would be my first wish. I need nothing. So I asked for flowers, cut flowers that will make me smile every time look at them. They are beautiful and care free. Look what came today. The card read: "Thank you for pushing me out of your hoo haa." Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

My mother was never the mother that she was supposed to be and that I needed. A mother shouldn't lock 2 little girls in a super tiny room together, when they should be out playing. A mother shouldn't call their kids "worthless". That will always stay with me. Now I'm an adult, she overdoes it with being concerned. Too much, a little too late. Never had the mother I should have had to want to celebrate. But I can wish a beautiful day to the moms out there that were good to their kids. You deserve it! 💋

Cheryl, I see your children have inherited your sense of humor! That card is a keeper.

Debbie, have you ever told your mother how she made you feel? It may help you to just get it off your chest. If your sister has the same memories of growing up, maybe both of you could sit mom down and tell her that the way she treated you as children shaped you as adults. Locking you in a small room is beyond abusive. Group hug

No mother is perfect. I wasn't and neither was my mom. I know she did things in ways that I have chosen not to. Very many ways. I used to dwell on them to make me perfect with my own kids. But I had to stop in order for them to have a good relationship with their grandma. But I know mom did her very best despite her own personal hardships. No one teaches you to be a mom. It is a Learn By Doing thing. Being a mom taught me a lot about my mom. I know she tried to make up for shortcomings, too. That is something that I will always do with my kids for as long as I live.

Sandi, yes I have told my mother. In fact, I made her cry. But I said what I needed to & never brought it up again. I can forgive, but will never forget. I always told myself that if I ever had kids, I'd treat them with dignity & respect... And never treat them like I was. I never had kids, but I have a cat. Treat him with all the love I have.
