So Virginia creeper (5 leaves) aka poison oak won't cause a reaction on the skin? I can tell you that the 5 leafed plant (Va. Creeper) and the 3 leafed (ivy) will/can cause a moderate to severe reaction on the human body. I've been an outdoorsman for a long time and maybe oak and creeper look a lot alike, but I don't believe everything I read either, especially when some have had no allergic reaction to either plant. P.S. When clearing brush and debris and burning either plant, don't allow smoke to get in your eyes or contact your skin either, you may have to seek medical attention. The steroid Prednizone however, does a very good job of getting rid of it on the body. Doctors prescription of course.

Both poison ivy and poison oak have leaves in groups of three and almost everyone reacts to them. Virginia creeper has five leaves and causes a reaction in some but not all people and, you're right, don't burn them!

Poison oak is an entirely different plant than Virginia Creeper.

Burning poison oak and/or poison ivy may not have any effect on you but please consider what it might do to any neighbor or a person passing by. It is not advised to burn that stuff. I had a friend who breathed in the smoke and got the reaction in his lungs. It was a very frighting thing for him, his entire family and his fellow students at school.Thanks. Thank You!
