Hi all, I have a row of street trees in Eureka CA, I think they are all the same species, but one has a more rounded leaf, others slightly pointy. Bark is grey and smooth, trunk and branches have bendy/wavy form. Leaves are a lovely sweet-spicy fragrance, like a myrtle. Definitely not a California Bay, but wondering if this is Laurus nobilis? I have noticed these around town, several of them (including one in a photo here) has a root crown that blobs out like a swollen ankle. They are limbed up so high they don't look like the shrub I know of as Bay Laurel but don't know what else it could be. Thanks!

Good suggestion. I looked that one up, very similar looking except the leaves of the camphor tend to point downwards (and be pointed) whereas these trees the leaves are more pointed upwards with either an oblong form with gentler point or rounded end. More suggestions are welcome!!
