My favorite tomato soup is Campbell's Well Yes! Tomato and Sweet Basil. I've never tried making homemade tomato soup, but it is on my list of things to do one summer with homegrown tomato harvest.

I've made tomato soup from scratch and was more like a pot of roughly crushed tomatoes... Good flavor but watery and NOT like the commercial product. Who knows, it might've been the real deal before it became commercialised... Shrug!
God's watching.

I can't remember why I thought I'd use an immersion Blender. Might have been for home made tomato soups, and sauce. Bought the blender last year. Of course this was my worst year ever on tomatoes.
Plant it and they will come.

I misplaced my immersion blender during the Great Kitchen Reorganization. I'm sure I put it someplace really good! I had to use my Bullet blender to make butternut squash soup. I sure wish I'd just left it in that lower drawer by the stove...

I love my immersion blender. DIL got it for me about 10 years ago for Christmas. What's really great about it, is that you can puree what ever is in the pot while it is in the pot. I use if for soups and jam/jelly. You don't have to worry about the lid blowing off of a blender, no burns fromspilled what ever, and easy to clean.

I wanted another one after the first one I got decades ago finally died but I didn't want to spend what they cost now. Sure enough, perusing through Goodwill with Pippi and found one for $3.50, ToastMaster brand. They've got plugs and it works so all is good! Thumbs up
God's watching.

I stopped at Aldi today while Joyanna was getting her hair done. They had a fresh rack of poinsettias in, $4 each! Nice little plants, quite full, with 3-4 big "blooms." I picked up 2 for Mom, 1 for us, and 1 for Joyanna's stylist (who is just the sunniest person).

It looks like they ran out of Vanilla Spice Eggnog stopped getting stocked about 2 weeks ago. So it was only stocked for about 2 weeks.

I have to cross over into Indiana to get to Aldi wine sales. It looks like they stopped stocking glühwein about 1.5 weeks ago and none of the employees at 2 stores I went to can tell me if they're getting them again but they doubt it. But a friend just let me know that Total Wines And More has bottles of glühwein (about $3 more per bottle but still in stock). It's easy enough to make, but we can walk in and within about 3-4 minutes be drinking glühwein on a cold day! Homemade is better though.

Last night we secured bottles of Amaretto & grenadine to whip up some special hot chocolates to sip while watching some Christmas fare on TV tonight.

We're still looking for bottled Glögg somewhere.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

Thanks. I looked and it looks like they have the concentrate that one puts in with the alcohol. I didn't know if there were bottles ready to go and after some searching think there may not be. Looks like I'm going to be making it. That's not a hurdle though! nodding

Not sure it helps, but Monin has really good Sangria concentrates, just add wine. I was thinking it might work equally well for mulled wine. Add nuts, dried fruit, and fortify it with some rum or brandy, warm it up, and you have Glogg - am I way off base?

No. Not off base. But if I have to do the assembly I'd rather start from scratch. It isn't that much work anyway. The thing behind pre-mixed and bottled glühwein is that you can come in and within 3 mins be drinking it hot. It isn't as good as homemade but sometimes expediency is desired.

That's what I like about the Monin sangria syrup, I can make sangria by the glass, very quickly. It may not have fresh fruit in it, but it's delicious anyway.

A friend mentioned on another thread that Aldi has cute little eyeshadow palettes for $6. Stocking stuffers!

My Aldi poinsettia is still going strong. $4 for a 6 inch pot!

The Deal Guy recommended their "Hot Coco" flavor Mochi (Joyanna is into Mochi), and also from the freezer section new "Sweet Heat" kirkland frozen chicken as well as chicken parm bites.

I got an Elf wrapping paper cutter that I need to try out. If it's any good, Aldi has them for $4. Deal guy also mentioned Kringles are back (love the raspberry one), and he liked the scent of the cherry blossom candle in their new around the world candle collection.

I had found but unfortunately only bought one and I have not seen it again. It was Coconut wine---so so good! I learned to like Puerto Rico's Coquito from online / https://www.diversivore.com/co...

It is delicious!

Report on the Elf wrapping paper cutter -- it works, but I think it needs somebody more patient to have consistent results with it. I tend to do "speed wrapping," and sometimes it worked great, other times it jammed and tore the paper on the first part of the cut, so I switched to scissors. It also works better on heavier papers, or maybe I just don't have the knack of it. I bought a box of 2, thinking I'd get more as stocking-stuffer type gifts if it was the best thing ever. I'm just going to give mine away but not purchase more. YMMV!

We had Kirkwood cordon Bleu chicken and Priano mushroom risotto. Both were voted 'not half bad', by a panel of 3.

Are they on the list for your next Aldi run? Or were they only half-good?

As a pantry (freezer) staple, they were at least half good. An alternative to canned soup for dinner.
Plant it and they will come.
