I live in CT. We had a beautiful small tree in our garden (maybe 7 feet) that resembled an umbrella.... very uniform and flowers very briefly in late april. No branches in the base od the tree, just at the top forming a true umbrella shape. Over the past year the tree grew limbs on the base and the limbs and vine type extensions coming off of it are growing rapidly and infringing on neighboring plants. The top is no longer a beautiful uniform umbrella shape. There are dead branches on some sides and lush greens in other areas... all growing in various directions. Can you provide any advice on how to get this poor tree back to its old self?
