I think I may have purchased this plant at a plant sale at one of our local parks last year. It was only one or two plants/blooms. It has been blooming a couple of weeks; and, as you can see has spread/multiplied.

It is a pretty little plant -can you identify the name if this plan, Also, do you think I can dig the little plants up and transfer them to a pretty container to put on my patio???

Thank you so much for your help.

Pat

Although I have never grown this plant I am kind of worried that a plant that is thriving planted in the ground may not like being lift and put into a pot. Perhaps you might consider propagating some cuttings, then put the well-rotted cuttings into the pots for display.

Pat, I say go for it and dig a small one to pot up and see how it does in a container! I've seen them sold in hanging baskets and they are very pretty with those blooms draping over the sides of the pot.

I've dug a lot of plants from the yard over the years and potted them up without any problems but I do live in Florida where most stuff grows like weeds. Green Grin! I sometimes pot a plant temporarily until I can decide where I want to place it elsewhere in the garden and sometimes just because I want one (of whatever it is) as a container plant. Day before yesterday my sister and brother in law dug out a bunch of Snowbush (also called Snow on the Mountain) - Breynia discticha and they saved one for me which I potted up. It's a bit wilted but should recover fine as long as I remember to water it daily in this heat!

Plantladylin, what a pretty plant the Snow on the Mountain is!!! I have never seen one, but I surely will look for one! I lived in Florida (Cocoa)
for about 8 years after high school. I loved all the tropical plants that weren't bothered by the cold. I had Hibiscus in Florida -and also have them here in Georgia; however they must be protected from the elements here (zone 8b).

I have been thinking of the Chenille plant all day. Tomorrow, I think that I will try a few in a container -I think if they make it, they will be pretty in a container, An elderly friend of mine wants me to share with her also; so in a pot for her,

Thanks -have a good week, Here is a picture of one of my Hibiscus plants. It is full of blooms that will be open soon.
