I use Lightroom to edit my photos before posting. Here's an uploading tip.

Lightroom has a built in app that allows you to upload your photos to flickr. Problem is that it never works that well. Assuming the upload works, the app tries to download comments. This process seems to go on forever. Also, none of the bugs with this feature ever get fixed because Adobe has little interest in uploading to flickr.

Well, I finally solved this problem. Flickr has released an auto uploader. Now all I do is export the desired photos from Lightroom to a "flickr" folder and the flickr app automatically uploads to my flickr account. Never seems to fail!

Google photos also has an auto uploader that I use for posting to my google photo account.

Now all I need is an auto uploader to NGA:)

Didn't see this thread.

I have no idea how these apps work. Are they native programs on your Windows computer?

Flickr has a downloadable app for windows and mac that automatically checks for new photos in folders that you choose and uploads them as private photos.

Google photos has the same kind of app for windows and mac

these apps make it really easy to upload photos.

oh yes, flickr and google both have these apps available for your phone. So, for example, when you take a photo with your phone, it gets auto uploaded to you flickr or google account. And, of course Apple has an app that uploads photos to iCloud.

In other words, all you really have to do is take the photo and it gets auto uploaded.

Well it sounds like a wonderful thing to have. Not being a Windows developer, I'd have to hire someone to build such a thing for us and I'm not sure the investment would be economically justifiable.

@dave

You are correct. I am old school and use a desktop computer.

If you developed and IOS and android app, you would have more plants photos than you can handle:)

All of the major players develop first for the phone and than as an after thought put it on the desktop.

Good info Frank. I use G+ alot more than ATP/GO and utilize ancient technology (Irfanview sharpen and resize at 90%). KB's instead of MB's. Image quality is great. I tip my hat to you.

Nice, viewable files with no weight/wait.

I wouldn't have called Irfanview ancient. It has been updated over time and its resize and compression algorithms are pretty good these days. Plus it supports heaps of common image formats. Definitely recommend it.
