I spotted this plant while walking near my house in Northern Virginia, zone 7a. The little "onion" is near the top of a plant that otherwise consists of a thin stalk which reminds me of wild onions. It had no onion smell, though.

Pretty sure it is an Allium, whether native or introduced. Perhaps A. canadense, or A. vinale. Since the stem is round, not flat, it is not A. schoenoprasum, wild chives.
