I have this weed in my lawn and would like to know what is is called, and what I can spray it with, without killing the grass.
Thanks in advance

I believe it is Virginia Button Weed. If you don't mind using herbicides, a broad leaf weed killer will work and not harm the grass if you follow the label instructions.

Pretty!
Send it to my house, I'd totally grow it.
I don't want the grass, though.

Not virginia button weed.

Where are you, Florida?

Kinda resembles Froelichia... But the blooms don't seem quite right...

Before using herbicide try digging it out by the roots. Wait until after a good rain or water the area well, then carefully dig up the weeds. (...and send them to @stone in Georgia. Rolling on the floor laughing )

Hi Sonoferic, Welcome! from me too!

It's not a match for Virginia Buttonweed (Diodia virginiana)

My eyesight is not cooperating but the blooms remind me of a bit of
Rabbitfoot Clover (Trifolium arvense) but I'm not sure the leaves are a match.

Can you give us an idea of where the plant is growing; city or country? That will help in narrowing down a more exact ID.

My Rabbit-Foot Clover is more upright than what you are showing. Also, the Rabbit Foot seed head are fuzzier and kind of pink in color. My old eyes cannot see the foliage clearly enough in the photo.

Here is Rabbit-Foot Clover in my garden:

About halfway down the page on this link for Hilton Pond there is a good image of Rabbit-Foot Clover:

Sonoferic,
Can you please compare the foliage and seed heads on your plant with the images of Rabbit-Foot Clover?
And/or can you isolate one plant by placing some paper behind it and take a photo of the foliage of your plant so we can see it more clearly? Thank You!

I too thought of Trifolium arvense but the leaves don't appear to be in threes in the ID plant. I agree it would help to see a picture of a branch of the plant separate from the lawn, and also roughly where is the location. The leaves appear to be more "chickweedy" than clovery but the flowers are clovery. A close up of a flower might help too.

It kinda looks like some of these Gomphrena but they're from different countries.....I wondered if it was in the Amarantheaceae and this is the nearest I came up with so far:

Good call on the gomphrena.

Totally matches the bloom and the foliage.

Even as an exotic, I'd still grow it for the butterflies....

Incidentally, I have a goodly amount of rabbit foot clover, too... At least the bloom time was right....
My froelichia isn't even up yet... Angry

Good eye @sooby!

Here's one for comparison: Globe Amaranth (Gomphrena globosa 'Audray White')
