Plant ID forum: Is this a Dogwood or a weed?

A plant popped up in the same growing spot as an azalea in my garden. I think it might be a weed, but noticed the leaves to be similar in structure to other dogwoods. Is this a dogwood and therefore a keeper or a weed that should be killed?

It looks like a Dogwood.

I agree that it looks like a dogwood. In any event it will need to be moved so why not put it into a pot until you confirm the ID. Might be a nice bonus plant.

I agree it looks like a dogwood. It looks like someone hacked it down and it's resprouting but it's hard to tell. It may be hard to move if it is established but in any case you'll want to wait until the plant is dormant before moving it.
