Spider plant (Chlorophytum) leaves all originate at the base of the plant, like a daylily - those look "layered". Could it be a Dracaena (I guess the roots aren't right) or something else? Are the offshoots on runners?

I agree, Sue. The way the leaves are growing makes it look like it's not a spider plant. It is growing much like my Song of India Dracaena, except that the coloring is wrong.

OK, TY. Since it wasn't purchased from ebay or Amazon from someone in some faraway location, from where another species of Chlorophytum might come into play besides the 3 known to be in the US, 2 of which do not make runners with babies at all, I'm convinced it's C. comosum.
