Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself! I'm LizinElizabeth, have been reading your posts and drooling over the beautiful flowers for the last several months. I have a few irises but most of my gardening effort has gone toward peonies up until now. Branched out into a few dahlias last year; gorgeous flowers but such effort to get them out in the spring then dig and store in the fall. I have a bunch of them waiting to be planted out now but wanted to grow elsewhere as well so this year I'm building my iris collection! Thank you all for your generous sharing of your favorite suppliers! I have orders in with Shady Spot, Stout Gardens, Sutton's Iris Gardens and Schreiner's. Also have a couple of trades in the planning stages with a few people here, love dividing and passing on my plants! So far this year I only have a few irises blooming. My season here in CO is pretty late--we're considered a zone 4b because of our altitude, nearby towns not at altitude are an easy zone 5 and flower weeks earlier. Our nights are still down in the low 40s so blooming is just starting for both irises and peonies. Luckily our crazy weather hasn't seemed to negatively impact the irises, noticing that fact over the last couple of years is what got me interested in growing my collection. Another wonderful thing is (knock on wood) we don't seem to have any pests that feed on iris here. I should probably say that in a whisper as to not attract any unwanted attention to mar what, up until now, has been a genus with no draw backs in my garden.... Baby Blessed--1st to open here, was blooming 1-2 weeks ago ![]() tall white NOID--badly needs to be divided! Task for this year... ![]() Monsignor (I think!) The tag disappeared and I semi-ID'ed it by pictures here on the forum and in the Plant Database. The name sounded familiar but if you think it's wrong please suggest alternatives! ![]() LizB |

![]() i'm struggling to grow irises at the opposite end of the spectrum; 10a. whilst you may be at the beginning, i'm at the end. 😟. i'm sorta sad, but then i'll be able to enjoy other posted flowers vicariously. ![]() have lots of fun with your new 'addiction', and i think you'll find this iris group very entertaining. |

Now that I'm on the "real" computer, and can see the "big" picture....I steered you wrong with that clue ! It's still not "Monsignor"![]() MONSIGNOR (Vilmorin 1907) but it isn't Lent A. Williamson, either ![]() when things slow down, a bit, I'll check some "maybes". |
