It appears to be some kind of iris but I have not been able to find out what it is.
It was growing under some bushes at my new old home in New Orleans

It looks similar to what I know as 'Walking Iris'.

Sunset Zone 28, AHS Heat Zone 9, USDA zone 8b~"Leaf of Faith"

That's exactly what it is. Someone brought one of these to our last orchid show. She said that all she knew was that it was an orchid. It had everyone (including the master gardener in our group) totally baffled. When I pointed out that it didn't have the right parts to be an orchid but did have the right parts to be an Iris, it was a lightbulb moment. We don't see a lot of those in Reno. Rolling on the floor laughing
