This is another where the ID tag disappeared when I moved, and since I'd only had the 20 new irises a couple weeks and had just bought them "potluck" (you get what you get), I don't have any idea what it could be.

It bloomed last week, is 39" tall, has a pleasant sweet scent. It is the largest bloom I have, measuring 9" across. I've been searching for days and can't find anything similar.

In my head I've been calling it "1970s Bridegroom," with the pastel ruffled shirt and pastel pinstriped pants. :)

I first thought 'Spinning Wheel' or 'Everything Plus', but the markings are different.. I think it's more modern than the 70's... Keppel's 'Armada' is getting closer, I think.. but not it either...

That's the closest I've seen, Sherry - but you're right, not it.

The closest I know of is Acoma but Acoma may be too blue

http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...

Then I started looking at the children of Acoma...
Betty Zimmerman may also be too blue

http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...
If you google these two irises, there a more photos around taken in different light etc. Betty Zimmerman has more pronounced stripes in some of other photos.

Wow! Acoma looks good to me, Robin. One of the faults of my cell phone camera is that it adds a redder tone to all my iris photos. I think you've got it!

Thank you!

You're welcome Smiling The only way you can be certain is to purchase Acoma and compare it to you NoID to ensure you have an exact match.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rob

I just came back to this thread and I noticed that Acoma is described as only 30 inches tall in twiki. I can see it described as 34 inches tall here http://www.ozarksgardens.com/n...

Betty Zimmerman is described as 36 inches tall on twiki and described as a "Elegantly ruffled huge updated version of Acoma with class" here
http://www.hillcrestiris.com/p...

Given that your iris is 39 inches tall with large blooms, I have my doubts about Acoma and I think Betty Zimmerman is a closer match.

There a few people in this forum who own Acoma and hopefully they can shed some light on how tall it grows.

I believe you are right, Robin! Betty Zimmerman does look like a closer match. Hurray!

BTW, I wish I had only one NOID driving me nuts; I'm just addressing them one at a time! Smiling

July 5, and Betty Zimmerman is blooming again! - Same rhizome cluster but a few inches away from the previous bloom. She smells so sweet.
