I'd love to claim this clematis as mine, but I have never been able to grow one this pretty and healthy looking! My friend has this plant that she bought from a catalog, and now she's shocked that it doesn't look like the one in the picture! D'Oh! Does anybody have any idea what the name of this beauty is? Thanks!

It is gorgeous! Lovey dubby I wouldn't be disappointed (maybe shocked but not disappointed). Smiling

I don't think it's Charmaine, but I'll give her that suggestion. The blooms look too big and full compared to the images of Charmaine that I googled. It is a pretty plant, though! Thanks for the suggestion...

It could be Clematis Franziska Maria™
I grow it and that was my first impression.

What catalog/nursery did she but it from? Does it have an online presence to compare what they carry?

I think she ordered from Breck's. It wasn't supposed to be this one, but I don't think she's too upset that there was a mix up! This one's much prettier than the one she ordered. Thanks for the I.d.

I just checked Breck's and if that's where she got it, it's not what I posted.

I thought maybe the one listed there Clematis 'Shin-shigyoku' but your photo really lens more on the burgundy rose tones.
