We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in May 2017" in Orchids forum

Another month filled with lots of nice Orchid pics and good discussions came and went and it is time for a new thread!
I have a couple of odds and ends to start -
This tiny Barkeria spectabilis made it and produced two buds on a very small growth. I find this one challenging, the new growth emerges from/at the old growth, and if the latter dies, there will be now new growth. I have lost previous plants in chilly Spring weather, so I took this one back inside when temps turned again cold and wet.

The leaves got a bit spotted on this noid Miltoniopsis, but I am seeing 6 spikes in the works, so it will be blooming for a few weeks.

Trichopilia Charles decided to throw out a couple more small blooms while outside.
Thumb of 2017-06-01/Ursula/12e745
And Vandachostylis (former Darwinara) Charm 'Blue Bird' is also blooming in the cage.

Woo hoo, Anna I hope your weather stays warm now!

Ursula, such lovelies! The Miltoniopsis is just gorgeous, and I always think your 'Charles' looks just like a gloxinia. Amazing flowers.

Thanks Elaine!

Slowly it has to stay warm in more northern regions, right? It is nice today here in the NE, but supposed to take a dive again by Sunday. Thumbs down

Charles does indeed look like a gloxinia, I like that one.

Anna, congrats on the Vanda spike. My one little vanda has another new leaf but no sign of a spike.

Beautiful start to the month, thanks to Ursula and Prabhi. I'll throw in a few from the OC.

It seems strange calling purpurata a Cattleya but here is Cattleya [C.] purpurata v. flammea X self.

It also seems strange calling this Schomburgkia a Myrmecophila but times are changing.

And finally this Dendrobium [Den.] antennatum.

Jim, I always like that particular Dendrobium! Neat Myrmecophila too, those blooms have such a gorgeous, interesting shape.
My favorite color on that purpurata! I love that dark lip!

Prabhi, very nice! The Cattleytonia Why Not is nowadays called a Guaritonia Why Not! I still have the old name on mine.... Smiling Pretty color on the C. lawrenceana!

Gorgeous , Jim!
How long is the spike on your grandiflora 'Classic Beauty'? 10 feet ??? Big Grin
All I have is a rerun from last month, but still looking nice considering the heat that it's been getting.

our orchid club takes care of the collection and one of our talented members does a spectacular display every week.. the display area is quite large but she always makes an arrangement at the front door to welcome visitors.

Pretty indeed!

Isn't it nice how long most Cattleya blooms last?

Hi ,
here is an old image of my C.Skinneri 'Coerulea' My Blue Heaven, this year it has given me two flowers.
In my opinion it is one of the finest variety skinneri.

A cascade of hundreds of little blooms on my Thunderstorm Orchid this evening. They're fragrant too. It's a good thing it blooms so often, because they only last a day or two. (Maybe a bit longer since we have cool rainy weather forecast for the weekend).

Sorry for the slightly fuzzy photos, the stems on this one are so long and thin (and loaded with wet flowers) that they won't stop moving. I took about 30 pictures and these were the best.
