I love white flowers, so I love white Rhodys......

The rest of them I don't care for......

Except this one, this is the only color that I like....

I love those Rhodies...probably because I can't have them. I just pulled my Ca. poppies this week. I'm sure I will have some next year, as some seed pods were dry. The plants were sprawling over everything and getting mildew, so it was time. Sun didn't come out until 3:00 this afternoon. My Tomatoes aren't going to get their 6 hours of sun for quite a while at this rate. Weather is repeat of cloudy with partial clearing for the next 5 days. 60 at night, 70s for days. I know I'll miss these temps come Aug.

Well, it's June, you know....

It is so perfect here on days like today that I just sit in the sun, soaking it up...weeding also, in between.

Yes...I love the house also, but the nice old houses in the 'city' which is a pretty small area, we're 2 miles from there and we're 'county'...the right in the center of town has the most problems with homeless, etc....such a shame because there are beautiful old houses, cheap...pack up the low lifes and send them elsewhere and we'd be in good shape....

Beautiful, Dick !! I had one fuchsia magellanica given to me...a white one and then another white one popped up on the edge of the property and late last fall a red magellanica popped up also...it's such fun, there are surprises here...it's an old house, I think around 1950 (we never used to think of that as OLD, right?...LOL...) and it was a rental for a number of years, but the original owner was a Yurok woman and she must have gardened, because even being let go with nothing but mown grass for years, there are still things coming back.

Are you enjoying the sun?

Says we will have rain Wed, Thurs, Fri...this is good, by now I can use a break...spent today playing with seeds and chopping back on an old cotoneaster in back to make room for more parking....our garage and parking are in the back....and with the new fence and gate, it makes it a bit more difficult for son coming home at night...

Tired, ready for bed and it's only 6:32...exciting life...LOL...

WOW! You must have some good humidity where you are. That last one is certainly interesting.

Carol, Dick lives up here too...LOL...yep, he's got good humidity....

He's got lots of wonderful shade, me on my small lot here in town ...none....I've planted a Paperbark Maple, a Vine Maple, a Hawthorn, a Mountain Ash, two Filberts, an Azara, 3 Lumas and...I've yet to find where I can squeeze in the two Dogwoods and two Embothriums. It's going to be awhile until I have SHADE...probably be dead by then. I told jer years ago that I was tired of planting trees for other people, would like to get property that already has them....sigh.....Dick has BIG trees.......

The small red fuchsia that has come up is still very small and the leaves and flowers are tiny, so don't know if that will change or they will still be tiny when the shrub grows, noticed there is one tiny flower, will take pics tomorrow a.m. I was glad to find that I had not yanked it when weeding in there recently, one of the last beds I've gotten to...3 months of rain does take its toll on getting things done around here.

Apparently we will get some rain the next several days...and this is good news, I've aleady had to start watering.

Have a huge pile of stuff to be shredded and I suppose that should be today ....tomorrow a.m.....

Beautiful! I've thought about moving north, but (a) I'm spoiled by all the conveniences close at hand, and(b) I can't afford to buy. My mobile home is paid off and the space rent is cheap. Oh yeah...then there is the weather. I would love to have more rain, but I would freeze up there in the winter.

this winter might have been the worst for me and cabin fever with soooooo much rain
but Wow the plants love it Smiling
and i do miss the mild weather you have
i lost 100 orchids the first year i moved here that i had grown in the back yard in Fountain Valley even in the garage with a small heater Sad i think that may have been the coldest winter i have seen here so far.

I have a 9' X 5' lean- to greenhouse for my orchids. I only turned on the heater one night. Some just stay on my north facing covered porch.

This last Winter WAS a tough one...the first two here were perfect with about 30" of rain...still, I would never go back.

Dick, this is my little surprise fuchsia...it's about 12" tall and those leaves and flowers are still the same size as last year, so I'm thinking it will not get larger flowers, though the size of the plant may...what do you think? Is this the same as what you have? I've been assuming magellanica, but don't know if they are this small, will need to check.....the white one that I have as a given to me plant and as a surprise here are about 4' tall, with small flowers....

My first Verbena bonariensis to flower, also the first to shoot up this tall, about 6'...it will reseed a lot, but I think I will be happy with that, there are a bunch planted in this bed, intermixed....
