And so we begin...

Btw, i see some pods on the old flower shoots. I have not been successful at regrowing from the pod. Anyone care to try? Warning; these are huge plants. One is enough for me.

Just checking terminology before I say 'wanna'. Are you talking about little baby 'bulblets' that are attached to the mother bulb?

Oh, good! @Kabby. You can tell me what to do with these seed pods off the flowers. When to harvest, etc. I have 5. Three are really, really big, like golf ball size. One is smallish and the other in between. IDK what to do with them but I will send them to those who want until they are gone. After they are picked at their prime, of course.

I have made other promises to others for plants and embarrassed *Blush* to say I have not sent them out due to so much of life getting in the way. SMH So I make no promises as to when I will send them. Because of that, I will take care of it without payment, without trade. Kabby, please instruct me on when and how to harvest these seed pods.

Dang! Those are some pretty big pods! Not what I was thinking of. My crinums all grew as baby bulbs attached to the mother bulb. So I will politely pass on your offer.

This is a mother of a bulb is probably the size of a basketball. The *Giant* Crinum is about 5 feet tall, 4 feet wide. Unlike my other normal pink crinum that are dwarfed in comparison.

Cheryl the pod will start turning yellow and becoming thinner when it is time to harvest the seeds. At that time you can squeeze them out of the pod very easily, sometimes they will fall out on their own when ready.
The photo I have, the pod is not ready to empty but it is as full as it is going to get. The seeds won't get any larger. Different type of crinum, same principle.
I am so excited about getting these seeds! Thank you!

I think the critters have been after them. I know there were more on there. Should I leave them on the plant? Will they continue to "dry" if I cut the stalk?

That's so cool Kabby. Those pods are huge. When I received my crinum seeds, I had to t-mail the sender to ask if she sent seeds or small bulbs, they were so huge. Speaking of, I need to get those seedlings planted in the ground. Whistling

Cheryl I'm not sure if you could buy some time by cutting the stalk and putting it in water to try and mature more. Or if the seeds can root being half grown. Confused Shrug!

My purple Crinums have produced many new plants over the 15 yrs I have had them. I would say that about 5% will be purple, most will have green leaves and white flowers.

Here was my plant start in 2012. It took it a long time to mature. It was pretty green back then! I guess as a baby off shoot, I was lucky to get a purple one with pink flowers.
