I'm going to post pix of some of my earliest bloomers. Stella D'Oro normally starts about the last week of May here.

First to bloom in my garden (May 27) is Earlybird Orangeade.

I see the image easily uploads without having to resize it smaller. Thumbs up

What is lightbox and/or which service is holding the photos? Who owns them??

Lucky you! I'm still waiting on my first bloom! But every day more and more scapes are popping up. I think my season is going to be a bit later than last year.

I'm not exactly sure who owns the pictures but when you are adding an image to the database you can click on All Rights Reserved so no one can use your photo without your permission. Just know that people probably will anyway unless you add a large watermark.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
Nice pic of Earlybird Orangeade. You should add it to the database.

@Scapehunter,
You own the photos, you just give the rights for them to be used on the site. I guess they are held on Dave's servers. It is a good idea to watermark your photos.

Here's a clump pic of Earlybird Orangeade, still the only one in bloom in my garden (June 4). I took the photo in full sun, with exposure turned down .07, or two clicks on my camera (Olympus E-510 with zoom lens).

I feel like I am playing wheel of fortune when I am out taking photos. My camera uses a dial to change shutter speed and I am spinning that thing from 80 to 2000 at I go from shade to sun, foliage to blooms, darks to lights. Clumps definitely need underexposure on bright days to keep the blooms from being blown out, especially the light colored blooms.

I'm thinking tomorrow may be my lucky day! My prebloom scape of Prickly Sensation has a bud that looks like it might open.

Unfortunately the temperature is going to drop & we are expecting rain. So maybe it won't open until later. All my plants seem to be in suspended animation since we've had cool temps and lots of cloudy/rainy days the last several weeks. My plants inside are growing at a much faster rate!

June 12: another two early hems:

Charles Johnston. This is an older one that always blooms early for me.

And Earlybird Canary, a rich, canary yellow. The color is very deep and carries well in the garden.

I took many pictures with a zoom and with a macro lens, with many different settings. It's hard to get a picture that really captures the depth of color in real life.
