I would like to delay planting turnips on the border of zone 4 and 5 until the flea beetles have come and gone. How late into the summer can I wait to plant? One year they didn't germinate well, but I don't remember exactly when I planted.

TIA

Tulips have to be planted in the fall. But if you have bulbs now that you have stored and haven't planted then I fear they will rot before fall comes around.

Up in Maine, I can't imagine that it would matter too much...
But, maybe plant your turnips in august as a fall crop.

Not sure why you would have germination issues, seems like they come up fine here even in ninety degree heat.

I've had flea beetles here too. All I know to do, is turn them under, plant something else.
