Hi there,

I bought a lovely, small shrub- it appears to be woody, but I am not entirely sure- from my local nursery a few days ago. It was not labeled. It is very small, about 1.5ft (or about .5 meter). It's leaves are quite papery and thin. It has some interesting, subtle variegation on it, including a slight pink tint.

If anyone knows what kind of plant this is, it would be a huge help! I am fond of it and would like to care for it correctly.

Thank you!
Summer

It does look like it might be a snow bush but it needs to be outside. They are not house plants.

Since it doesn't have to have full sun, I don't know what would prevent it from being a house plant any more than any other potted plant. Conditions in various homes can vary wildly. No home has suitable conditions for all plants called "house plants" without augmentation of some kind, or devices like terrariums. The entry in the database here (that I linked yesterday) indicates someone has kept it as a successful house plant. Personal definitions of house plant success can also vary wildly...

OP is in a warm enough zone that it can be kept outside as a potted plant if desired.

Thank you all so much! Definitely a snow bush. I have also read that it is traditionally not a houseplant, but recently cultivators have been adapting it to thrive indoors as a bonsai-like tree. Just needs bright, filtered light and needs to stay away from drafts. It has been too windy to keep this plant outside comfortably, so I will take my chances inside.

Anyone know if it prefers a deep or shallow pot?
