My daughter just moved into a house and I'd like to know what this shrubby plant is. It has shoots coming up everywhere and looks like trouble?? Confused

LOL, my first thought was it reminded me of the Viburnum in my yard.

Definitely not English ivy - which was growing in with it - Thumbs down

It does look like your Viburnum, Lin. Thumbs up I'm not familiar with the kind that grows this way tho, have just seen the tidy shrub type. This looks like is was planted as, or has become, a groundcover. The stems that are longer are flopped over.

Trying to figure out if I should prune it all back, as a ground cover, or rip it out as a nuisance. Thoughts?
