I'm visiting my daughter in Virginia and tonight on the back concrete steps were 2 of these. I thought they were giant spiders - quarter dollar size, got 1 blurry pic - but as I tried to vacuum it, it flew up towards me. I'm not going near #2 unless armed with Raid. In the pic a leg looks like it might be a cricket? DD just moved here - I'm from pnw and never seen anything like this. H E L P

a spider cricket , cave cricket , camel cricket

I actually prefer these to the noisy chirping kind of crickets

they can be hard to catch though

Spider Cricket sounds like a fitting name for them - they look pretty horrible but at least they won't bite.
