Plant ID forum: Please help identify this flower

I snapped a picture of this interesting plant in my brother's backyard in Melbourne, Australia. I've searched all my botanical books trying to find even a vague identity for it but no luck so far.
Can any one help me figure out what it is? Without a name or details on the plant requirements I can't do much in terms of internet searching.

The only thing I can come up with is Trillium.

It looks like Arisarum vulgare, but I don't know which Arisarum grow in Australia (although since it is in a garden it isn't necessarily native).

Some kind of arum, really need additional pics to compare... Can't quite match it on google from the one pic.
