Kolkwitzia amabilis is listed as a synonym in that entry.

My COL link shows:
Latest taxonomic scrutiny: Hassler M., May-2017
Source database: World Plants, May 2017

Your COL links show:
Source database: ITIS, Sep 2009

The Plant List:
data supplied on 2012-04-18 which got the info from Tropico

Perhaps @Zuzu can shed more light?

I think it probably stems from this fairly recent (2013) journal article:

The Kolkwitzia genus (only one species) was reclassified by taxonomists as Linnaea a few years ago. Your references are outdated, islander.

Please review: http://www.catalogueoflife.org...
Even the reference you use does not recognize the name as valid. ITIS shows Kolkwitzia amabilis as valid. If the majority of databases do not recognize the name, why has this site accepted the name as valid from only one non plant specific database?

The reference Sue gave for the CoL is the 2017 one, not the 2010 one. This one below is 2017. See also the article from Phytotaxa that I gave a link to above which I believe is the reference that indicated the change.

CoL 2017 page for Linnaea/Kolkwitzia amabilis.

http://www.catalogueoflife.org...

"Linnaea amabilis (Graebn.) Christenh. (accepted name) 1 literature reference for Linnaea amabilis (Graebn.) Christenh.
Synonyms:
Kolkwitzia amabilis Graebn. (synonym) 1 literature reference for Kolkwitzia amabilis Graebn.
Kolkwitzia amabilis var. calicina Pamp. (synonym)
Kolkwitzia amabilis var. tomentosa Pamp. (synonym) 1 literature reference for Kolkwitzia amabilis var. tomentosa Pamp."

I have to admit I hate name changes myself and in my mind it will always be Kolkwitzia!
