Can anyone ID this plant? We just moved in to the house and need to get rid of the poison ivy growing next to it but not sure if this is a weed, flower or plant. Any thoughts on what it could be? Its mostly in a shaded area. We are in Northwest Indiana in zone 5 if that helps.

Thank you,
Dorothy

Appears to be Pachysandra.

As to whether it is a weed or not...depends on who you ask. Some people love it and treasure it. Others pay lots of money to get rid of it.

As for the poison ivy, if you are not opposed to using something like brush killer, you can carefully paint the poison ivy hoping to eradicate it without harming the Pachysandra. Good luck.

Edited to add photo.
This is the product I used to get rid of poison ivy.

Thank you so much for your quick response! I would rather keep it if I can since its a pretty plant. I will look for the brush killer for the poison ivy.

Thanks again,
Dorothy

I agree with Greene on the ID and there are more photos and growing information in our database here: Japanese Spurge (Pachysandra terminalis)

I think the blooms are kinda interesting:
