Hello...I recently moved Prescott and our home has a mature catalpa tree. It has only produced leaves halfway up the tree and very sparsely. There are small holes in the bark of the tree which someone said might have been beetles attacking the tree. We have been deep watering regularly and fertilized the tree with something very high in nitrogen. We do not want to lose this tree - is there anything we can try? Would pruning the area that is not producing leaves help?
Thank you.

You might find an Arborist that can help. There are some injectable insecticides available, but you would have to know what bug and find someone certified to do it. It won't be a do it yourself project. Maybe you could contact your local extension office for recommendations.
