I have two houseplants that appear to be growing just fine, but I found bugs in the soil when I was checking for fungus gnats. I set a potato slice on top of the soil and found the following:

Easter cactus- Slender longer off white bugs that look sort of like rice. Super tiny.

Pachira aquatica- So small, but really looked like tiny ladybugs.

I know there are beneficial bugs in soil, just want to make sure that is what's going on. Neither is infested. There are a couple leaves on the PA that look a little mis-shapen. Maybe this would explain it? Any ideas would be welcome!

I'll be watching for answers too. I often see things in my potting soil when I'm re-potting my plants. It would be good to know if they're good guys or bad guys!

If the first ones jumped when disturbed they could be springtails but for both it would help if you could post pictures.

No jumping. No bugs on leaves or trunk either, it's only in the soil.

Not springtails then. We really need pictures.
