Can anyone help me please?
For many years my late father kept a Samuel Mcgredy rose 'Ginger Rogers' and he loved it dearly. Sadly around three years ago it succumbed to age and possibly my poor care. Is there any chance of me being able to replace it by way of a cutting or young plant? I've tried many times to no avail. I'm desperate to find another 'Ginger Rogers' for my dad

I checked online sources and it does not look like it's in circulation any more, sorry.

I did find reference to it in a catalog from Thomas for Roses, but they're in Australia, so I'm not sure if that's useful.
Here's a link to the pdf file for the catalog that shows it:

You'll need to scroll down a few pages (it's on page 7).
No idea if this is current.

I too found two Australian vendor listings but neither carried them on their available list and with customs, I doubt they would ship to he U.K. anyway.

Our database shows that Rose (Rosa 'Ginger Rogers') is sold under two other names 'Flower Show' and 'Salmon Charm' so maybe you can search for it under those names as well.

If the plant isn't completely dead, you could try several cuttings. Never hurts to try.

Thank you for all of your replies. I think the only way I'm ever going to be able to reach my goal is by sourcing someone who might have an old specimen in the UK and has taken cuttings from it to regenerate. Looks like it might be the proverbial needle in a haystack! Nevertheless thank you all for your time and for the info passed on. Best regards Carol x

You might try contacting nearby Garden Centers or Botanical Gardens and inquire if anyone knows where you could get the rose.

Hello Carol,
I too am looking for a Ginger Rogers, for my mother, as hers died a few years ago.
Her Ginger Rogers rose had been given to her by Sam McGredy at the launch of the Ginger Rogers rose. My father had made a compliation of rose based songs for the event, and Sam McGredy sent my mother 10 roses in 1969 after she had told him that she had no roses in her garden.
If you do find a cutting of the Ginger Rose I would very much like to obtain one too please.
