Hi... Can anyone tell me... I have these lil white bugs like ants in my soil i just saw them today come out and digging inside and vanishing... I live in uae it's usually hot here... So i water my plants almost everyday to save from hot weather and dry soils... I have cucumbers and melons seedling in tin cans... Can anyone tell me what these lil things are and what should i do for them if they r harmful... I used all purpose potting mix in pots and for seedlings...

Hi and welcome to NGA!

Sounds like termites! Is there anything wood near by like mulch?
"The Universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice. It speaks in the language of hope; It speaks in the language of trust; It speaks in the language of strength, and the language of compassion. It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul. But always, it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors, speaking through us, And the voice of our inheritors, waiting to be born. It is the small, still voice that says: We are one. No matter the blood; No matter the skin; No matter the world; No matter the star; We are one. No matter the pain; No matter the darkness; No matter the loss; No matter the fear; We are one. Here, gathered together in common cause. we agree to recognize this singular truth, and this singular rule: That we must be kind to one another, because each voice enriches us and ennobles us, and each voice lost diminishes us. We are the voice of the Universe, the soul of creation, the fire that will light the way to a better future. We are one."

Welcome!

Is there any chance you could post a picture of the bugs?

Hi... And thanks Smiling

No... It's just the soil in a tin can... Maybe the soil contains some of such stuff... It's a all purpose premium potting mix... Confused

They look like they could be springtails. If you poke at them with a pencil or something, do they jump?

If that's what they are then, here's an article about them by an entomologist that may be of interest:

It is great to see a problem identified. I have never seen a springtail and I hope I never do. But at least I know about them.

I tip my hat to you. I've sometmes seen globular ones on plant leaves here, they're very tiny. I haven't often seen linear springtails. It's amazing how far something so small can jump!
