I'm not sure if this is a flower or weed, I find them all the time, and I think.. (maybe someone can correct me on this) they resemble a flower of some sort.

Maybe Goldenrod? Have you let one bloom?

Yeah that sounds right, it has a yellow florescence, and typically blooms in the fall, I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it checks out. Thanks, I never knew.
Also I know there is a wildflower that is a perennial, with a purple flower that is shorter than the Goldenrod, but similar serrated leaves to a Goldenrod, but a little darker..
