I desperately wanted something different than the typical colors crape/crepe myrtles growing in SC so I chose red, since I saw a small one in my neighbor's yard. Finally the "red rocket" was received & planted by the landscaper. I noticed that the buds are red, but what will soon be flowers are pale pink to white. The buds and new growth at base, top are reddish in color. Reportedly, the tag said "red rocket" on it. I had this tree planted specifically in memory of my adult son, in the front yard do that I could always see it. Do the flowers eventually turn red? Could this be some other variation of a red rocket?

Here is our entry for Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica Red RocketĀ®) with a few images. If the blooms are pale pink to white, your plant is incorrect.
