Hi Jim. Was this a plant in your yard or one you ran across? It looks a lot like A syriaca which is grows in your area.

This link shows pictures and descriptions of the Asclepias in your area.

My first thought was also Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)

I wonder if it could be Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata)

The plant in ? has a white or more white center vein , the Syrica are all completely red
The Syrica outer edge veining is also all connected The plant in question the outer edge veining is not connected , A couple differences , I will try tomorrow for better photo when I can see better

I am actually thinking Amplexicalus , or Sulvantii ,, poorly bloomed if either , but those are closest ..

Jim, I think we may need to find a good pair of eyes.... Hilarious!

Look at this link for A purpurascens It says the flowers can be blue to purple, pink to red, but the leaves appear similar (to me) Confused

Perhaps a shout out to @KentPfeiffer might help. I saw that he has posted a few milkweed pics to the database, as has @robertduval14
